Updated Guidlines - April 20, 2021

Following the recent governmental decisions re. the Coronavirus guidelines, we have decided the following: 

  1. ​​​Starting today (20/4/2021) until further notice, entrance to the university campuses is permitted for anyone with a Green Pass or anyone who has filled in a Declaration of Health.

  2. Entrance to classrooms is only for those with a Green Pass or a negative coronavirus test done in the last 72 hours.

  3. Wearing of masks is obligatory in the classrooms (lecturers do not have to wear a mask) as is only sitting in the permitted places for seating.

  4. Teaching Labs and professional training will continue to be carried out according to the “Purple" guidelines.

  5. Entrance to any building on campus is permitted only when wearing a mask and sitting in cafeterias is only allowed for those with a Green Pass. 

​For the welfare of everyone coming to the university, please follow the guidelines.

From Sunday April 4, 2021, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev's 3 Campuses will be open

to everyone according to Green Pass Jurisdiction. 

A number of guidelines:​

1) Entry to Campuses Rules:

a) Entrance is for staff, students, service providers and visitors on presentation of one of the following along with ID / Student ID:

1) Valid Green Pass

2) Valid Vaccination Certificate

3) Valid Recovery Certificate

b) Entrance to campus on presentation of a PCR (Coronavirus Test) certificate from the previous 72 hours. 

Students who do not have one of the certificates listed above in a), can enter campus only to participate in teaching labs / professional training. These students can enter only via the gates highlighted in red below, after registration and completion of a health declaration. While registering at the gate, you should state your reason for coming to campus and when leaving campus, you should report your leaving. (Leaving via Mexico Gate or the Gate of Knowledge requires you to swipe your staff/student card through the reader there).

c) Instructions for arrival at the Sde Boker Campus will be published separately.

d) Students from other institutions can enter campus on presentation of an invitation from the host and a Green Pass / Recovery Certificate. Without these, entry to campus will be denied.

e) Students with children up to one year old can enter campus with the children.

2) Rules Whilst on Campus 

Study Classrooms:

1)  Entrance to study classrooms is for Green Pass holders only and pre-registration via the MyBGU app.For the MyBGU App guide​lines​

2) You should sit only in marked seats and leave one seat empty between students.

3) You should not sit in the front row. In classes with student seats, you should sit in the seats behind the red line marked on the classroom floor.

4) You should only enter classroom buildings to attend a class and as such you are asked to move from the building entrance to the classroom entrance as quickly as possible. Please keep social distancing as much as you can.

5) If you wish to speak with a lecturer at the end of a class, you are asked to do so in the open air and not in the classroom.

6) Students with no Green Pass can attend teaching labs and practical training which will continue to operate according to Purple label guidelines (social distancing of at least two meters and a smaller number of students) – those students are asked to arrive directly to labs as close as possible to the
starting time and are asked to leave the campus immediately after the end of the lab / practical training.

7) It is obligatory to wear a mask during classes / practices.

8) It is forbidden to eat or drink in classrooms.

9) Please check that the windows are open as far as possible.

10) Security Department Stewards will patrol the campuses to ensure that guidelines are being followed.


Self-Study Areas in Rooms, Libraries, Open Spaces:

Throughout campus there are self-study work-stations, both inside and outside buildings.
These stations are mapped out.

b)Behavior Guidelines:

1) Entry to and being on campus is only for those vaccinated or who have recovered.

2) Sitting is in marked places only, in any case there should be at least one seat empty between students.

3) Please do not move chairs and tables (permissible for self-study only).

4) In closed spaces windows should be open as far as possible.

3)  On-Campus Ser​​vices

a) Making food purchases and receiving service is permissible for all those coming to campus.

b) Sitting in cafeterias and restaurants is only for those with Green Passes / Recovery Certificates.

c) You should sit only in marked seats and keep social distancing.

4) Cultural Activities

a) After Passover, cultural activities organized by the Dean of Students / Student Union will also take place on campus.
b) Entrance and participation is only for those with valid Green Passes / Vaccination Certificates.
c) Please keep social distancing of at least 2 meters between one another.
d) Ticket selling will be beforehand and online or by telephone only.
e) Eating is forbidden during activities.

5)  Behavior Guidelines on Campus

a) Masks should be worn in all public spaces and during interaction with others.
b) Activities organized by the Dean of Students / Student Union are with permission only – gatherings are forbidden.
c) Please keep social distancing of at least 2 meters between one another.
d) Hygiene and Cleaning – there are hygiene products (alcogel, wet wipes etc.). Please use these frequently.
