SOCIAL WORK AND COMMUNITY PRACTICE IN THE US: LESSONS FOR ISRAELI SOCIAL WORK AT THE MICRO AND MACRO LEVEL
Dr. Terry Mizrahi will present the unique model of social work in the US compared to other helping professions. She will emphasize the role of macro practice at the community, organizational and policy level. She will present the context of US social work with lessons for Israeli social workers. Students and other participants will have the opportunity to discuss the ways they are making a difference in the circumstances of clients and communities.
Dr. Mizrahi, PHD, MSW, was professor at the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College in New York City. She is now co-chair of the Special Commission to Advance Macro Practice in Social Work and also co-chairs the National Social Work Voter Mobilization Campaign known as “Voting is Social Work." She has just completed editing the first “Encyclopedia of Macro Social Work" (Oxford University Press, 2022) with Dr. Darlyne Bailey.
