כנס וירטואלי שנערך בשותפות עם מכון הרטמן התנועה הרפורמית ליהודית מתקדמת וההיברו יוניון קולג' (HUC)
מטרת הכנס הייתה לכנס יחד חוקרים וחוקרות מרחבי העולם ומדיסציפלינות שונות אשר מחקריהן עוסקים ב:
אספקטים שונים של "תחיה יהודית" ויחסיהם עם קהילות התפוצה
זהויות ופרספקטיביות על היהדות העולמית ושאלת הסולידריות הישראלית-יהודית
בכנס היו פאנלים אשר עסקו בנושאים של: היסטוריה, מגדר, מדיניות ציבורית, עמיות יהודית ועוד.
בכנס השתתפו חוקרים וחוקרות מצפון אמריקה וישראל והיה קהל של כ260 איש אשר התדיינו עם חברות הפאנל השונות.
הפאנלים של האורחים הראשיים שודרו בפייסבוק לקהלים המנו כ1300-2700 איש.
Looking at Them Looking At Us: Israeli Perspectives on Diaspora Jewry (May 2020). This virtual conference was held in partnership with the Hartman Institute, Israel Movement for Reform and Progressive Judaism, and Hebrew Union College (HUC). Its main goal was to bring together junior and senior faculty from various disciplines whose work focuses on two main topics:
(1) different aspects of “Jewish revival" in Israel and their relationship with Jewish diaspora identities, and (2) the Israeli perspective on the Jewish world and questions of Jewish and Israeli solidarity.
Conference panels revolved around topics like history, gender, policy, Jewish peoplehood, and more. Approximately 30 scholars from Israel and North America served as panelists, and over 260 viewers joined the six sessions and engaged in discussions with the panelists. The plenary sessions, which were broadcast live, featured senior leaders in the field from Israel and around the world and had between 1300-2700 registered attendees. We plan to publish some of the main
lectures (in partnership with the Hartman Institute). In light of the success of the conference, we are also exploring the possibility of holding the conference regularly, every year.
