Human activities on land surfaces such as mining, road driving, grazing, can lead to disaggregation of the topsoil and increased dust emission and PM10 loading to the atmosphere. The study aims to quantify surface erosion and dust emission from quarry haul roads and agricultural (loess) unpaved roads.  In the first stage, laboratory experiments are conducted by wind-tunnels to examine the impact of control products and stabilization methods. The next stage of the study includes field experiments in the treated roads to examine their responses to physical erosion processes. The results are used to determine PM emission coefficients, to develop new specific methods, and to support natural resource management to reduce significantly dust emissions.
