​​​​​​​​Fellowship Announcement 

The Jacques Loeb Centre for the History and Philosophy of Science at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev offers up to three fellowships to post-doctoral students for the next academic year. We are looking for candidates with a background in the humanities and/or the natural sciences who would like to work on one of the following projects: 

Project 1. Fundamental issues and epistemologies in the life sciences. We are looking for a fellow with a background in the life sciences and philosophy. 

Project 2. The impact of ideology and politics on science: (i) in authoritarian countries, particular the USSR and China, (ii) in Western democracies e.g. that of diversity and inclusion. Pre-requisites are a background in science and history/political science. A mastery of the Russian or Chinese language would be preferable.

Project 3. Modern genomic technologies and the concepts of race. We a looking for a fellow with backgrounds in statistics, biology, and history.

Requirements

Researchers are required to carry out their research at the Jacques Loeb Centre in Beer Sheva unless the research necessitates traveling, and they are expected to participate in the activities of the Centre including seminars and conferences. The PhD thesis should not be older than 5 years.

  • PhD thesis and/or one or two publication(s)

​Fellowship Length

Fellowships are awarded for one year with the option to extend for up to two additional years.

 

Stipend

The basic monthly stipend is 7200 ILS (currently 2236 US $). A partial coverage of travel expenses is also available.

 

Start Date

The fellowship starts in October, but the start date can be delayed upon agreement.
