Shulamith Hareven (1931-2003)


Shulamit Hareven was an author, poet, translator and editor.  She published 19 books, among them collections of poetry, novellas, children’s books, as well as essays and many articles, some of which were published as anthologies. Her works have won critical acclaim and were translated into more than 20 languages.

Shulamit Hareven (1931-2003) was an author, poet, translator and editor.  She published 19 books, among them collections of poetry, novellas, children’s books, as well as essays and many articles, some of which were published as anthologies. Her works have won critical acclaim and were translated into more than 20 languages.  Hareven was a member of Academy of the Hebrew Language, and one of the founders of the Peace Now movement.  Her unique writing reflects her deep commitment to Hebrew language and culture, on one hand, and to Israeli society, on the other.

Scope of the collection

The Hareven archive reflects the wide scope of her work, and includes articles, reviews, letters, translations, and more.  The archive was donated to the Heksherim Institute of the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev by the family of the author
