It is with great sadness that Ben-Gurion University of the Negev announces the passing of our friend and the founder of the Bengis Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation and the Bengis Center for Desert Aquaculture, Arnold Bengis.

Arnie was a visionary who influenced thousands of students, faculty members, and the Negev region as a whole. Thanks to him, the first academic entrepreneurship center in Israel was established at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, creating new businesses, integrating practical content into academic courses, holding hundreds of conferences, establishing ties between academia and industry, and so much more.

Our sincerest condolences to Arnie's wife Lea, his children and grandchildren, his friends and all those who were close to him.

It was our honor to help promote the vision of a special and beloved man. His commitment to excellence, innovation and to the Negev region will continue to guide us into the future.
