​​​​​An unprecedented step: the Ministry of Tourism is granting scholarships to those accepted to academic degrees in Hotel and Tourism Management

"I am very happy to announce that 13 scholarships of NIS 8,500 will be granted by the Ministry of Tourism to BA and MA students enrolling in the Department of Hotel and Tourism Management at the Guilford Glazer Faculty of Business and Management GGFBM in 2018-19 academic year. Three scholarships will be awarded to MA students and 10 will to BA students [at both the Eilat and Beer Sheva campuses]," said Prof. Yaniv Poria, Chair of the GGFBM Hotel and Tourism Management and the Academic Director of the Eilat Campus, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. "This is the first time that such generous scholarships have been granted," added Prof. Poria."

Professor Poria also notes that the Ministry of Tourism's large support for students studying in the GGFBM Department of Hotel and Tourism Management attests to the Department's uniqueness, being a core management Department. 

The Ministry of Tourism has a high degree of involvement in the department: In early May 2018, two students from the Department of Hotel and Tourism Management won first and third place in the Ministry of Tourism's marketing video competition. This year, a course was given in the framework of tourism policy management in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism. At the end of May, 2018, the Director-General of the Ministry of Tourism, Amir Halevi, addressed students at the GGFBM Department of Hotel and Tourism Management. The Department's lecturers also take part in various activities at the Ministry of Tourism. 

GGFBM Dean Prof. Oded Lowengart says, "This is a golden opportunity for anyone interested in the highest quality academic studies in Hotel and Tourism Management, who understand that core areas of management are the key to personal and social development and advancement. We are the only academic institute in Israel offering BA, MA and PhD degrees in Hotel and Tourism Management, in the Faculty of Management (Business School).

The Ministry of Tourism announced the granting of 39 scholarships to six academic institutions for the 2009-2009 academic year: 5 BA scholarships in hotel management, food resources and tourism at the Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Environment of the Hebrew University. 5 scholarships for BA and 3 scholarships for MA in Tourism and Hotel Management in the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at the Kinneret Academic College. 3 MA Scholars in Land of Israel Studies with specialization in the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Haifa. 5 BA scholarships in management of service organizations at the Hadassah Academic College for Society and Community 5 BA scholarships in Tourism Studies in the Faculty of Social Sciences, Ashkelon Academic College 5 BA scholarships and 3 MA scholarships at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Beer Sheva Campus and 5 BA scholarships On the Eilat campus. 

The BGU Department of Hotel and Tourism Management is the Rolls-Royce of hotel and tourism management studies in Israel," Yoav Behar, Deputy Director of the Israel Hotel Association. 

The Department of Hotel and Tourism M​anagement is a core part of the Guilford Glazer Faculty of Business and Management since its establishment at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev.
