The APA is the world's largest association of psychologists, with more than 117,500 researchers, educators, clinicians, consultants and students as its members.

The Sigmund Koch Award is awarded by Division 24 to an excellent young psychologist each year who is normally within ten years of their Ph.D. degree and has made promising contributions to theoretical or philosophical psychology. Division 24 is the Society for Theoretical and Philosophical Psychology, within the APA.

Granek, a member of the Department of Public Health in the Faculty of Health Sciences, researches the psychology of health and illness; psycho-oncology; grief, mourning, death and dying, and historical and theoretical perspectives on psychological disorders and practice.
