Prof. Doron Zahger, Vice-Dean for Teaching Affairs at BGU’s Faculty of Health Sciences, and Director of the Division of Cardiology at Soroka University Medical Center, has been elected as the next president of the Israel Heart Society. Prof. Zahger will begin his term in 2019 and will replace Prof. Ran Kornowski who will take office in two months.
The Israel Heart Society is the professional organization of all medical professionals involved in cardiovascular care in Israel. Its main goal is to promote cardiovascular health. The Society was founded in 1952 and has around 680 members. It also has 11 Working Groups. The directors of these groups and members of the Society’s committee make up the Society’s Council, which aims to conduct scientific, educational and professional activities, along with extensive research in order to promote professional and scientific knowledge in Israel, prevent heart disease, foster relationships between professionals in Israel and to keep in touch with and represent the Society in cardiology societies abroad.
