On January 18, 2017, for the third consecutive year, Professors Richard Deckelbaum (Founding Co-Director and MSIH Senior Advisor on Global Health) and Yaakov Henin (Founding Curriculum Director for MSIH) debated a hot topic as a part of the MSIH module on "Nutrition and Development."

This year's debate had the same title as last year's, "Omega-3 fatty acids are needed for better health outcomes in high and low income countries," but with a new twist. Last year, Prof. Deckelbaum was the proponent for this statement, and Prof. Henkin the opponent. This year, they switched sides with Prof. Henkin being "pro" and Prof Deckelbaum taking the "contra" stance. With actual scientific data sprinkled with humor by both, the annual debate emerged as a major tool at MSIH. Professors Deckelbaum and Henkin still remain close friends and colleagues after a bruising successful session on both sides.
