The IEM department aims to conduct first-rate research in the areas of Production Engineering (Design, Manufacturing), Operations Management (Scheduling, Logistics, Quality and Reliability), Quantitative Methods (Operations Research, Probability and Statistics),
Information Systems and Technologies (Enterprise Systems, Innovation), Human Factors Engineering (Ergonomics, Safety) and Intelligent Systems.

Applying a multidisciplinary approach, faculty members address important practical applications in such diverse areas like Transportation Systems and Road Safety, Natural Resource Systems (Water Resources, Environment, Agriculture), and Public Service Systems (Healthcare, Education, Military).

The IEM Department encourages funded research by faculty and research students alike, and it continuously seeks to enhance collaborative research efforts with other disciplines within Ben-Gurion University and with universities and research institutes in Israel and abroad.
