BGU graduate Yael Vitelson has been selected as the 2016-17 Sam Zuckerberg Scholarship recipient to Oxford Brookes University. Vitelson, originally from Givatayim, studied Psychology and Management at BGU. She will study Human Resource Management at Oxford Brookes University.

"I'm very excited about this unique opportunity which will not only further my skills in Human Resource Management, but will include representing Israel and BGU, taking part in social and cultural events of the Jewish community, promoting appreciation of Israel's achievements and fostering open discussion about Israeli politics," she says.

Vitelson served in the Intelligence Corps during her military service and as Assistant to the Military Attaché at the Embassy of Israel in India.

As an undergraduate, she volunteered as an instructor at the social club "Tzavta" for young people with special needs. She also conducted personal mentoring and group guidance at the "Perach" project for children who need help academically and emotionally.

The scholarship is made possible through the support of Roy J. Zuckerberg of the USA, in memory of his father Sam. Roy J. Zuckerberg is Emeritus Chairman of BGU’s Board of Governors.

The scholarship covers fees, accommodation and some living expenses for one academic year.

The scholarship was the initiative of a small group of members of the Oxford Jewish Congregation (OJC) which has become the Oxford-based Working Group.
