Dr. Sarah Rothman’s article “Does preparation of children before MRI reduce the need for anesthesia? Prospectiverandomized control trial” was awarded the Walter E. Berdon Award for the Best Clinical Research Paper appearing in Pediatric Radiology in 2016.

The distinction will be recognized at the upcoming Society for Pediatric Radiology Annual Meeting in Vancouver, BritishColumbia, Canada on Friday, May 19th.

The paper shows a direct link between simulating a visit to the MRI and a decreased need for anesthesia.

Rothman is a graduate of the Joyce and Irving Goldman Medical School and is currently doing her residency in the Institute of Radiology at Soroka University Medical Center. She wrote the article under the supervision of Prof. Ilan Shelef of the Faculty of Health Sciences, BGU and Soroka. Shelef is head of the Brain Imaging Research Center, Director of the Institute of Radiology and Vice Dean of the Joyce and Irving Goldman School of Medicine. Co-authors included Anat Gonen, Alina Vondus PhD and Prof. Victor Novak.
