Norwegian Minister of Petroleum and Energy Tord Lien visited Ben-Gurion University last week accompanied by top academics from Norway and Norwegian Ambassador to Israel Jon Hanssen-Bauer. The purpose of the visit was to discuss potential collaborations between Norway and Israel. 

“We visited Israel and Ben-Gurion University together with top academicians from University of Stavanger and NTNU to strengthen the cooperation between Norway and Israel in technology and research. The Universities in Israel are highly competent when it comes to technology in general, and specifically nano- and material-technology. Exchange in these fields can benefit both Israel and Norway,” Minister Tord Lien said following the visit. 

Lien met with Prof. Angel Porgador, Deputy Vice-President and Dean for Research & Development, Prof. Jiwchar Ganor, Dean, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Prof. Yuval Golan, Director,  Ilse Katz Institute for Nanoscale Science Technology and Prof. Eugene Katz, Alexandre Yersin Department of Solar Energy and Environmental Physics. 

He also toured the Carbon dioxide conversion to liquid fuels laboratory with Prof. Moti Herskowitz, Director, Blechner Center for Industrial Catalysis & Process Development and then went across the road to the Advanced Technologies Park to meet with CyberSpark Industry Initiative CEO Roni Zehavi to discuss cyber security.
