Dr. Gil Enziger

My life before BGU:

I grew up in Ness Ziona and while I was in high school we moved to Gan Yavne. I studied in the Ein Prat preparatory academy (Mechina) in Kfar Adomim and while in the army I studied Jewish History. I completed all of my degrees at the Technion in Haifa, in the fields of peer-to-peer systems and networks.

"I research communication networks and computer systems. I love looking for problems that concern the industry and proposing simple, creative and academic solutions. Developments in industry are carried out usually under the pressure of time, and as a result, there is a tendency to not make waves and to stay within the existing framework"

My research:

I research communication networks and computer systems. I love looking for problems that concern the industry and proposing simple, creative and academic solutions. Developments in industry are carried out usually under the pressure of time, and as a result, there is a tendency to not make waves and to stay within the existing framework. I like to think about these problems from their very beginning and to seek simple and effective solutions.

Why BGU?

I have a lot of family in Beer-Sheva, and the train allows my wife to get to work.

An insight from my research:

Part of being successful is also to understand which things don't work and to stop them on time.

Something that doesn't appear on my resume:

I love travelling. My trip after my army service was walking the Israel Trail.

When I grow up:

When I was small, I wanted to take over the world; today I enjoy carrying out research.

If I was not a researcher, I would be:

a tour guide

In brief:

Maccabi or HaPoel? What?
IPhone or Android? Android
Winter or summer? Winter
Book or Movie? Movie
Game of Thrones or Breaking Bad? Breaking Bad
An isolated cabin in nature or a pampering hotel in the city? In nature
Dire Straits or Queen? Kaveret
