The 50th BOG festivities have been rescheduled for Sunday, October 25 – Thursday, October 29, 2020. We have informed the hotels of the change. Details of the exact schedule and preliminary program will be communicated later.

Schedule

At this year's Board of Governors Meeting, we will celebrate Ben-Gurion University of the Negev's jubilee, while looking ahead to the next 50 years.

The Board opens on Sunday, October 25, with a festive Welcome Gala attended by the President of Israel, Reuven Rivlin at 7:30 p.m. 

Preliminary meetings, by invitation only, will start at 3:30 p.m.

Other highlights throughout the week include our Opening Plenary Session, the Deichmann Memorial Concert, the Robert St. John Lecture by the former editor of The New Republic, Franklin Foer, a spotlight on nutrition research, an interview with Dr. Ruth Westheimer, '50 going on 50:50': a panel on gender equity at BGU, a festive launch of the North Campus campaign and more.

Not to be missed is our popular Student Event, the Annual Zlotowski panel featuring the future of academics at BGU, the Kreitman lecture by renowned Israeli author David Grossman, the annual Halperin Lecture, and of course the Honorary Doctoral Degree Ceremony.

On the morning of Wednesday, October 28, we will begin a new tradition of advisory committee meetings for BGU Board members. The meetings will take place at the Kedma Hotel at Sde Boker and will commence at 10:00. After lunch, you will able to choose from a number of tours at the 'Jacob Blaustein Institutes for Desert Research' and the 'Ben-Gurion Research Institute for the Study of Israel and Zionism', and in the evening, we will hold a festive dinner at Sde Boker.

After check-out on Thursday morning, join us at the Marcus Family Campus for breakfast with President Chamovitz and an engrossing meeting with BGU alumni and co-creator of the engrossing television show Fauda, Avi Issacharoff.  Later in the day we will visit the University's Advanced Technologies Park (ATP) and take part in BGU's SilicoNegev Entrepreneurship Festival.

Transportation to Ben-Gurion Airport and Tel Aviv will be provided at the end of the program at 4:00 p.m.

Accommoda​​ti​ons

This year we are happy to introduce an additional accommodation option for our guests: the newly built Kedma hotel in Sde Boker. Due to the high attendance expected this year, accommodations are subject to availability.
Rooms will also be available at the Beresheet Hotel in Mitzpe Ramon, and at the Leonardo Negev Hotel in Beer- Sheva.

Transport​ation

Shuttles will leave from the hotels to the University before the first event every morning, and return after the last event each evening.
Please note that the Kedma hotel is situated 50 minutes away from the main campus in Beer-Sheva and the Beresheet hotel, 75 minutes away.
